The Clay Inspector: Anara the Bengal Cat
Wherever an open bucket of goopy clay sits open or freshly fired bisque-ware lies or a camera sits aimed to photograph pieces (as above), there she will be. The Clay Kitty strikes again! Whether it is insisting to be petted with slip-covered hands fresh from wheelwork or sitting on the piece about to be painted or trying to sniff up the spout of a teapot--from the inside--Anara is constantly intrigued with every step of the process, and in keeping her people from overdoing it. And yes, if we aren't doing it when she wants to be in the studio, she will yowl and yowl and yowl! And due to her, ahem, explorations of unfinished pieces, we occasionally have reduced-price catastrophe pieces. Recently she's been joined by her half-sister Desi, though she's more interested in splashing in water than rolling in clay. Bengals are a breed of cat that is a hybrid between domestic cats and the Asian Leopard Cat, carefully bred for personality as well as their wild looks, and are a wonderful and very interactive breed. No fuzzy fluff-balls or designer couch decorations these, but active members of the family. If you are interested in learning more visit the International Bengal Cat Society website. Anara and her sister Desi were bred by Bonnie of JungleKats in central California.
