Some of the dog designs are more period, like the Greyhounds (based off a greyhound rescue called Dudley who decided to pose across the street from our booth one day), and others are less so, such as the variously attired Dogs of War. There is an extensive tradition of anthropomorphic creatures in the illuminated manuscripts of medieval Europe and that tradition is what we are referencing here--plus allusions to modern memes and puns.
