History & Documentation

Uffington Chalk HorseThe Uffington White Horse is one of several chalk hill carvings in England. "The White Horse of Uffington, which lies close to The Ridgeway path, is thought to be the oldest hill figure in Britain. Carved out into the chalk escarpment, the horse measures 374 feet in length, and is thought to date back to 1000BC in the late Bronze Age. The hill on which it sits is crowned by the Bronze Age hill-fort of Uffington Castle."

Unique & usable, safe for food and drink as well as the modern conveniences such as oven, dishwasher, and microwave. All the designs are drawn free-hand and hand-painted onto the hand-thrown pottery—no molds or stencils used—and our wares are designed sturdy, built to survive years of everyday use.
